I've always been interested in the under current, what's going on behind the scenes. In high school (many years ago), I read the existential fiction of Albert Camus, then Herman Hesse, and then I discovered a metaphysical bookstore in my area that had everything, and I've been a customer there for over twenty years now. I sometimes get away from it for a few years, but I find my way back to reading about spirituality. I live the life of the Hermit, by choice.

Since my ideas about the way life 'ought' to be rarely conform to the status quo, years ago I decided to ignore current events and politics in favor of reading metaphysical literature.  Last year I became painfully aware of the new sort of government the Bush regime was trying to create, and it scared me, since his administration is exclusively for the rich, and wants to dismantle the Constitution and Bill of Rights, which I consider the real foundation of Amerika. 

I am outraged by what is happening here.   It is indeed painful to watch, to sit back and see my country morph into a hideous monster government. 

Perhaps I should leave this all behind and get back to my spiritual work.  That is my task at the moment…
